Dr. Alen Johnson and S.C.W.A.A.M.P.

Every person or group has a different perspective about what they do and the life they possess. The world is currently divided by people's own identities and how they view life. Why can't people live the life that they want with no worries about what others think? In Privilege Power and Difference, Alan Johnson defines the struggles and issues about world problems that people go through. Alan Johnson states, "People's perceptions are difficult to control, however, for they tend to assume that they tend to assume that they can identify characteristics such as race and gender simply by looking at someone. We routinely form quick impressions of race, gender, age, or sexual orientation"(Johnson, p13). People will make assumptions about a person without even knowing what they could be going through.

As a future educator, I want my students to feel safe in the classroom. I want my classroom to be a safe space for my students so I can help them in any way that I can. I will learn from my students every day and cater to every single one of their needs. I will continue to learn about different cultures so I can understand my student's backgrounds and learning styles.

Its Taryn's World

Hello, my name is Taryn Reed and I am a freshman at Rhode Island College. I am 18 years old and a swimmer on the RIC swim team. Some hobbies I like to do are: painting, swimming, and baking. My favorite holiday is either Christmas or Halloween. My favorite place to be is the beach.

Looking into the future, I want to be an early childhood educator for either a kindergarten or second-grade class. I've wanted to be a teacher since the start of high school. I took a pathway program for teaching to start myself on the right path. After College, I want to go right into the teaching field and make a happy and safe environment for my students.
